The Chartist movement

Workers send a letter to the Parliament of England.

The Chartist movement has gathered already millions of supporters around Great Britain. The petitions that were signed by millions of working people, demanding political reforms, has been, once again, presented to the House of commons.

The Chartist movement is a group of working people who demand political reforms and political democracy for the working class. They fight for universal manhood suffrage and against political corruption, but their most important aim is to give working people a say in the law-making. As in other working-class movements the Chartist movement protest difficult working and living conditions, as well as against the factory owners.

The parliament rejected the petitions a few days ago despite the huge support of the movement. This was already the third petition represented. There are rumours of the movement making a violent protest, but nothing is for sure yet.
