The Expropriations make the peasants anger

Yesterday, in Spain, 1843, Isabel II introduced a new policy to create a

new class of landowners that would support the liberal regime.

This new policy will be carried by Progressive ministers, such as

Mendizábal and Madoz.

This policy will be consisted on a state confiscation of land belonging to the church, the nobility and municipalities. In return, the owners were given an amount of money.Then the state sold the land at a public auction.
