Amadeo of Savoy abdicates
This morning, of the 11th of February of 1873, our King, the first of Savoy´s house in Spain has abdicated. He has not been able to stand all the pressure in which he has been subjected during these last years of mandate. The opposition from both, the Republicans and from the supporters of Alfonso, Isabel II´s son, and the Carlist who were against him in the third Carlist war, that started a year ago, had make Amadeo I take this radical decision. He had aware the Cortes of his decision through a letter he wrote telling that he is leaving the Spanish throne. This makes the Cortes have to find who is going to rule now in Spain.
