The Birth Of UGT

Today, 12 of August of 1888, the UGT (Union General de Trabajadores) has been created in Mataró, Barcelona.

It’s creator is Pablo Iglesias, who is also the man that created in 1879 the PSOE.

This group has been created with Marxism socialism as its ideological basis, for trying to achieve their objectives, despite its statuory apolitical status.

This afternoon, the UGT declares itself to be an institution of productive workers, organized along lines of trades and liberal professions, which respects freedom of thought, leading toward the transformation of the society, in order to establish it on the basis of social justice, equality and solidarity, which is a very important point for the people.

I hope that this organization will help a lot of people to get the rigths that belongs to them.
