Oil as a new source of energy
The first oil refinery is built .
In this year, 1889, the first oil refinery has been built in Cleveland, USA, thanks to the money that has been invested by John D. Drockeller, a business man, and Henry Flagler, an industry entrepreneur.
It uses atmospheric distillation to produce new fuels, kerosene and petrol, from the oil.
