The creation of the Panama Canal
A new trade route
Today, it is the first day of the "Panama Canal" which has been in construction since 1880, and now, in 1914, it is ready to be used.
The costruction gave some problems Philippe Bunau-Varilla (the engineer who designed it) it felt once. Between 1904 and 1914, the U.S. finalished the construction of the canal at a cost of aproximetly 400 milion dollars.
This new canal is 77 km long and it creates a ruote between the Pacific ocean and the Atlantic ocean.
