The war against the Convention is over!
This morning in Sweeden, Carlos IV has singed a peace treaty between Spain and France, negociated by Manuel Godoy.
In the location of Basilea (Sweden), the war of the convention between France and Spain has ended. This war has resulted a disaster for the Spanish monarchy. France also was tired of the war and of the fall of Rebespierre ( july 1794).
To sing this treaty, François Barthélemy has represented France and to represent Spain has gone Domingo de Irriarte. Now France will give Spain back all the areas which they used during war in the Iberian Peninsula, and Spain will give they back their colony in the oriental part of Santo Domingo.
This day, 22 of july of 1795, will be known as “The treaty of Basilea” the day when France and Spain started to been allies.
