Third Carlist War
Yesterday, 21 of April of 1872, in Spain the third Carlist War started.
The hostilities began when Amadeo I of Savoy is crowned as king of Spain, because the government had not chosen the Carlist pretender Carlos VII.
The first Carlist War began in 1833 to 1840 because Fernando VII´s brother Carlos claimed the throne and did not accept the Pragmatic Sanction or Isabel II as queen. In 1839 Isabel was recognised queen and the war finished. The second Carlist War began in 1846 caused by Isabel II´s refusal to marry Carlos Louis Bourbon.
This morning, several Carlist troops enter Spain through France. This Carlist war will develop mainly in the Basque Provinces and Navarre.
