Yesterday, 11 of February of 1873, Amadeo has abdicate the throne of Spain.
Amadeo has abdicated the throne because he faced opposition from the Republicans and the supporters of Alfonso, Isabel II´s son. He issued in order against the artillery corps and then immediately abdicated from the Spanish throne.
Amadeo is the second son of king Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy. H e was elected by the Cortes as Spain´s monarch in 1870 until now. Amadeo had to deal with difficult situations, Carlist uprisings, separatism in Cuba…
At ten o´clock last night, Spain was proclaimed a republic by the Cortes.
